In this chapter, we learn that the protagonist wants to be strong, but that he's not strong enough to be like his master, Asuna. Asuna, he says, has the power to act, to make decisions, and to be bold, but he doesn't have the courage or the tenacity to do so. He's afraid that if he becomes like her, he'll be like a highway robber who wants to rob a highway. The protagonist says that he has come to answer to his call. He challenges the protagonist to a duel that was close, but the protagonist says it's too close for him. He says that this is a duel to the death, and that he can't wait to send the protagonist into a lifeboat with an enemy that is "abnormally tremendous magic power" .
