In this chapter, Rinehart's son, Nemo, meets up with his father and some of his friends. He's glad that Nemo is okay, but he's also worried that Nemo isn't as strong as he thought he was. Nemo is excited to meet his father's friends, especially since they're "old unwanted drinking buddies" of his dad's. The two of them agree to help Nemo train for his upcoming fight with Rakan. Nemo says that he can't beat Rakan, but that he'll be able to teach him how to do it. Rines comments that Nemo looks like he thinks he'd be better off losing to Rakan in three days than beating him in 30 days. He also points out that Rakan and his friends are surprised at Nemo's growth. He says that they'll all be surprised to see how much Nemo has grown. He then asks Rines if he can ask Rakan one more question: "Is there still time for you to win?" Rines says that there is still time, but Rines won't tell him what happened to Arika. He asks if Rakan will acknowledge that he is a grown man if he wins, and Rines replies that if he does, he will say that he was "a grown man say a chuckle" .
