In this chapter, Nemo explains that his father is dead and that he can't see him again. He tells Nemo that he's going to tell him the story of how he met his father six years ago. Nemo thinks that this will give Nemo the upper hand in his quest to find his father's past. Nemo says that if he knows what happened, he'll be able to get revenge on his father. He also says that he wants to know what his sister is doing. Nemo swoons and says that something's wrong with him. Nemo asks if his father told him how to look like his father when he was a kid. He says that's what the magic works. Nemo realizes that he is the son of the thousand master and that his mother is a year older than he is. He wonders if Nemo's father would have given him trouble if he hadn't been such a good kid. Nemo then asks if it's true that Nemo almost drowned in a frozen lake. Nemo wonders if this is because Nemo wants to be in the "trou-ble"
