In this chapter, we learn that the sun is coming up, and it's going to reach its limit before dawn. If the sun doesn't rise before dawn, the trial will be over. If things go badly, it'll be too late. The only way to get through the trial with the knife is to use your own power, and that's what you're going to have to do. The problem, says Chisame, is that even if you use the knife to cancel the trial, the wizarding power of the sun will still be able to do something that would be worse than death for you. So you'll have to wait until the sun rises before you can do anything. Chisame's got a solution: he'll get a grip on the knife.
