The next morning, the three men go to the basement, where they find a shaft that leads to the secret of the world. When they get there, they find that it's been a long time since they've seen each other, and they're glad to see each other again. They're both impressed by each other's strength, and the three of them decide to fight one last time. Jack Rakan, who has been watching the fight from the other side, asks why Rakan keeps fighting with such an arrogant look on his face. Rakan points out that everyone has known the truth about the world for the last 20 years, and that's enough to make them fall into despair. He asks Rakan to let the truth burn him to nothing, and then he'll be done fighting.
