In the second half of the chapter, Evans is still in his pajamas. He's not sure what to make of the fact that the headmaster of the school has been stamping his name on the school registry every five seconds. Evans thinks the headmaster should have been more prepared to deal with the situation. He also thinks that if the headmaster had been prepared, he would have been able to handle the situation better. Evans tells us that the fight is over, and that he has earned his pay for it. He says that he's had a good time in the mainland, and he'd like to thank his friends for coming to visit him. He tells them that they're all "underage," and he doesn't want them to insult him like that. Evans says that the rock that hit him was "bloody" , and the girl tells him not to worry about it. She tells him that if he were an evil person, he wouldn't be able to run away from the school. Evans asks if he could say goodbye, but the girl says he'll be transformed into an "ermine" . He asks her not to act so suddenly, and she says she's still in her pajamas.
