In this chapter, we learn that the girl in front of the boy is Izumi, and that she is in love with the boy. The boy, however, is not confessing his love to her, but rather, he is pretending to be her lover in order to get away from her. We learn that Izumi's lover, the boy, is the boy's father, who has been missing since the beginning of the novel. We also learn that he is now 10 years old, and has grown up since then.
