This chapter opens with a soliloquy about the idea of turning the Earth into a sun. Captain Burns is not convinced that the idea is true. He believes that the sun is a god-like creation, and he refuses to believe that anyone can change the Earth in such a way. The rest of the company will soon be arriving, and Captain Burns believes that they will try to sneak into the enemy camp. He instructs his men to keep a close eye on all entrances and exits. He also tells them not to stand in front of moving vehicles. He tells them that they have a strong second-generation fighting force, and they will help them in any way they can. He asks if they can see the woman, but she is too hot to see him. He promises that he will figure it out.
