The chapter opens with the sound of an arrow flying through the air. The narrator explains that the word "arrow" means "sacrifice" . In the ancient Japanese culture, the word means "some one living there" who has been chosen to be the "human pillar" of the sacrifice. In other words, if a white-etched arrow is sticking out of a building, it means that some living person is the sacrifice and the heartbeat of the building. If the woman in the black is through the door, then it would make sense that she is the woman that the scop has been waiting for. He asks the ogun if he can help him. The ogun tells him that he knows how to use the ink and that the rumors about him being a rookie in the company were about him using his ogun. He tells the narrator that he has heard stories about how a rookie can generate a lot of firepower in company 4, but he cant do it long or he will burn himself to a crisp.
