The chapter opens with a flashback to a time before Nemo and Nemo's son, Nemo Jr., was separated from his mother. Nemo was a kid when they were separated, and the promise that Nemo made to his mother that he would protect her and her son never came true. The flashback shows that Nemo and his mother are still very much in love with each other, and they will always be together. Nemo asks if he can go to the kitchen to get some food for the girls, and when he finds out that they are not going to be getting any, he asks the captain to go to his company and recruit new recruits. The captain tells him that the first call was for a white man wearing all white, and that the red cross on the victim's body was acting strange since he got back.
