Alek is glad to see that he's all right, and he thanks the inspector for saving his life. He's also glad that the bullet hit the wrong side of his body, because that means that he can use the enemy's machine gun to finish Alek off. Alek's not sure how he'll react to this, since he doesn't know how to use an arrow to hit a man in the guts. He also worries that if he dies, he won't be able to take care of his soldiers, since they don't have enough men to support a company. He wonders why the first shot didn't hit the right side of the body, since his left arm is still covered with the company's insignia. Alek thinks that this is a sign that the enemy is finally coming out of hiding, and that they're finally ready to fight.
