When the fire breaks out, the Infernal sees his mother but is unable to find her. When he arrives at the scene, he finds the body of his dead mother lying in the fire. He tells the lieutenant that the fire is too dangerous for him to fight, and he stomps on the flames. He sees the fire in his eye and burns his eye out. He blames the fire for ruining his family's life. He asks the lieutenant if he can see his mother again, and the lieutenant says that he can. The lieutenant asks if he could meet with Captain Hawdon, and Hawdon replies that he looks just like him. Hawdon asks if Hawdon wants to meet with his grandfather to discuss the adolla, but Hawdon says he'll only visit if he doesn't want to be a different person in the future
