This chapter opens with the rumble of the infernal fire. It's not the same as the others, it's like an earth quake. The rumble is for the sixth pillar, which is intama bay, and the rumble for the seventh, which's near sumida bay. The sixth pillar is being attacked by the imperial army, while the seventh is in the area of asakusa. The captain of company 8 tells the captain that the company needs to step up and fight. He also tells him that company 8 has been wanted for treason, so don't worry about getting him to stay away from the company. He says that some of the company's soldiers have seen a demon-like figure flying over Asakusa, and that a giant figure has been spotted next to the sixth. The seventh pillar is different from the sixth in that it hasn't been seen before, but the captain says that he's heard that a human-sized figure is hovering over the area. He asks the captain what made him change his mind about going to the seventh pillar, and he replies that he doesn't want anyone to butt in on the fight. When the captain points out that the cannon is already in place, the captain replies that company 7 has already launched an assault on the seventh. He's worried that the proto-nationalists will show up on the beach, so he decides to focus on the pillar.
