The chapter opens with a soliloquy about the sun shining on the sun. It's the way of the guardian they've already surrounded. The sun shines, the sun is the soul, and the sun shines on the soul. It must be someone controlling the infernals. The lieutenant says he's afraid of this, but the arrow says let's get the heck out of the way. The fire is the breath of the soul , the black smoke the soul release cluster, and so on. He tells the lieutenant that he'll take care of them all. He also says he can't understand why the white-clad goons are killing people. He says that even if everyone in the world agrees that they want destruction, they're not going to agree with the fire-soldiers. They're just serving their own egos, he says. The whole world is filled with people who want their lives to end. They might say that they are glad to be alive, but they'll end up thinking, "boy, I'm glad I am alive ! . . and i promise you no one thinks of that" . He adds that the whole world has been hearing about people wanting to die since the day they were born, and that's why she was born. She's been listening to what people have to say about their lives since then, she says. She says that she and the lieutenant are going to free her from hell.
