About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that the fight is a form of "hysterical strength" . It's a way of showing people that we love them. In other words, it's an expression of our love for one another. In this case, we're talking about a guy named Captain Shinmon, who's trying to figure out how to use this power of the fight to his advantage. He's got a bunch of questions for the captain. First off, he wants to know why they're having to go through this torture to get to this point in the first place. The captain asks what the point of the torture is, and the captain says that it was all part of the "tradition" of fighting in order to show people how much they love you. But the captain doesn't seem to know what that tradition is. He says that he's never asked what's the point, and that he never asked why they were having to torture him. Then the captain asks why they had to endure all of this torture, and he says that the captain is just trying to abuse his power. He asks why the captain didn't tell him what was going on, and then he asks why he had to torture the captain so that he could use his power to abuse the power of his love. Then, the captain tells the captain that he feels the "breath of life" in every single attack, which makes him even more determined to kill him. He also says that every attack is filled with "raging hatred," and that if the captain lets his rage get the better of him, his rage will come back to him. So the captain warns the boys that they still have a long way to go before they can learn how to face a fire scene. He tells them to cast their bodies into the flames of "the wisdom king" and let their guard down for just a second, and it'll be their last. Then he tells the boys to
