In this chapter, we learn that Mimaki has joined the ranks of the elite fire fighters, and that she has been trained to deflect bullets and to crush pillars. Mimaki, however, is not a good match for the men of the company, because she is not strong enough to do the job. She is too delicate to be an effective fire fighter, and the men are addicted to battle, Mimaki says.
