About This Chapter
The scene shifts to a deserted sol temple in the middle of nowhere, where the disciples of Asakusa have gathered to celebrate their victory over the "Protestants." As the scene opens, the narrator tells us that the sun is setting, and that shadows cast by the divine light have come upon the place. He tells the story of how he was beaten by the "de stroyer god" , and how the poison he used to kill him was so strong that it killed a large animal. The narrator tells the disciples that he is the toughest man in the world, because he allowed the god to beat him so easily. He then tells them that the god has gone crazy and that the place is deserted. He says that he thought that the temple was deserted, but the reality is that the disciples love the temple, and they do not want anyone to see it. He goes on to say that he loves the dark, too, and asks the disciples if they know what is wrong. He asks them to go to the temple and find out what is going on. He wants to know who the hell they are, and if they will have to take him out depending on what he says. He promises that he will find out soon enough, and says that they will find the scriptures before anyone tries to stop them. The lights went out, and the proto nationalists were there. He warns them not to be afraid of
