In this scene, Tommo tries to convince himself that he's the one who's been fighting the good fight. He's got the guts to keep going, and he wants to be the one to kill Tetamaki. But he can't, because he thinks he'll be killed by the other soldiers, who've been trying to stop him. Tommo's not going to let this happen. He tells himself that it's only one more body, and that the evangelist is trying to find him.
