This is the first time we get to see Dr. Rivers's reaction to seeing a bat flying into the sky. He's so freaked out by the sight that he can't believe what he's just seen. He also realizes that the driver of the car is probably a snake, and that his eyelids are twitching because of the snake's bite. Rivers is all, "Oh my god, that's a crazy stunt!" , and then he realizes that he has been tortured by the guy for 10 years, but never has he thought of giving up his life to him. He says he'll buy himself some more time by disrupting the Bat's ability to detect where he is. Rivers says he has a black hole in his palm that can absorb anything, even light. He wants to use this ability to create a hole big enough for the driver to pass through. He knows that if he hits the driver's head, the bat's energy will go away, and he can use that time to escape.
