The scene opens with the elderly man, Mr. Xiao, eating a meal with his son, Gui zhi. The old man is upset that he has not been invited to lunch with the other villagers. He tells the young man that he will not let him enjoy his meal because he is ungrateful to his family for not inviting him to lunch. When the old man learns that the man is his mother's relative, he becomes angry and demands to know why the man interrupted everyone's meal. The young man tells him that he is an old fool and that he should not take advantage of his old age. He then goes on to apologize to the man and tells him to stop eating and to behave himself. When he finds out that the policeman has been looking for him, he asks the policeman to come back so that he can apologize. The policeman agrees to come and apologize, but when the man asks him who he is, the policeman says that he must be an important person. The man is overjoyed to learn that the police have finally arrested him.
