In this chapter, Caixin learns that he has lost the bet with the Golden Flower Medicine boy. He is worried about his father, who is dying. He decides to go back to his dormitory and buy a thunder bead containing 18 heavenly thunders, which he can use in a group attack. He then asks the other members of the group if they have any cures for vegetative patients. They all agree that they do not have any. He asks one of them if he can chop up a vegetative patient and pay him after it is done. The other members agree that he can. Caixin then asks another member of the gang if he has any pills that can help a person who is separated from his soul and body. The man says that he does have some pills, but they are just for what he needs. He sends the pills to Caixin as quickly as possible.
