The ghost tells the doctor that he is a human being and that he cannot run away from him. He tells him that he has committed evil his whole life and that after he dies, he will become evil. The doctor tells the ghost that he killed a ghost more terrifying than he before. The ghost feels like his soul was washed clean by the water from the jade lake. The water is from womens bath water. It can cleanse the filth from the lake. It is your fault that I swallowed bath water, but I am already dead. Then I'll come back to life, and kill you again. The priest gave the ghost a jar of blood, which contained a leech that would latch onto his chest so that the curse could be placed. The blood sucked the leech, but the leech probably died in a fire already. He asks the doctor to let him go now. He wants to know how he can lift the curse without exposing the leech.
