Worried about his family's safety, Lin tells Cai that he's going to kill the two men who helped him get his crystal rocks. Cai tells him that he wronged his family by not protecting the murderer, and Lin promises to do the same in the future. Worried that Cai is about to kill him, Lin begs Cai to stay out of the way. He can't believe that Cai managed to stab him in the back. Cai says that he doesn't want to kill one more person, so he'll just kill one of the other two. Lin is convinced that Cai has chosen the right guy to kill. He's even more convinced when he hears that a messenger from the governor has arrived. The messenger tells Lin that Cai's sister, Lingzi, is back, and that if she runs off again, all the members of the family will be killed. Lin says he won't allow Cai to take his sister, and warns him to think about the good for his family.
