About This Chapter
Hiroshi and his friends come to Hiroshi's house to pay a visit. Hiroshi thanks them for coming and tells them to come back whenever they get hungry. He says he can't have his wife and his sister work while he's goofing off, so they'll have to work for him. He tells them they're custom to pay their own way, but they should pay what they want. He also tells them that he has ten boxes of cabbage waiting for them, but nobody's come to pick them up. He asks them to take all the cabbage they have and wait for someone else to come pick it up. When the man comes, he breaks all the bottles of sauce that Hiroshi gave him, and Hiroshi blames him for the whole thing. He feels like he has read a children's story where the protagonist gives away his stuff to people who want to buy it, and then he is left out of the story. He begs them to give him some of their stuff back, and they agree. They wait for the woman to come and ask for some ingredients, but she doesn't come. She asks Hiroshi to cook some eggs for her, and he says he'll do it himself.
