About This Chapter
In this short scene, the young narrator and his friend, Yuka, stand on a street corner in front of a concert venue. Yuka asks Yuka if she has tickets for the show, and Yuka replies that she does, but that they are sold out. The young narrator tells Yuka that he has come to tell his friend that he will be performing at the concert. He tells her that it is his first time at the arena, and that it was his dream to perform there when he first started in music. He says that he is just turning his memories into songs. He explains that the boy who used to be his crush is now a fan of his music, and he is surprised that Yuka has come so far to see him perform. He adds that he wants to sing his best so that his song will reach him someday. The two young men talk about Yuka's crush, and how he is still in contact with him. He said that his family watches him on the big screen, but he has plans to go out with him in the coming days. He also says that the snow has stopped him from going out with his friends, and so he will not tell them what to do. As the young men wait for the concert to begin, the narrator wonders what the young man who is so infatuated with Yuka is like. He wonders if he is like the man who has a crush on Yuka. He then wonders why he came to see the concert from the second-floor balcony. He wants to stand on the stage someday, he says, so that he can sing his song to his friend. He thinks that the view from the balcony will help him reach his goal.
