The chapter opens with the narrator asking the audience if they would like to see a movie. The audience is shocked to hear that the movie is called "Awakening. The narrator tells the audience that he has no friends to invite him to the theater, and that he wants to see the movie with them. He also tells them that the theme song for the movie was performed by his friend, Yuu-Kun, who performed the same song for another movie. He tells the crowd that he bought too many CD's in the month of January and used up his allowance. He invites them to meet him in front of his friend's house in the town of Shibuya at 1:00pm on Sunday. He explains that his friend was planning to go after school, but that she ended up going to meet a friend in a town called shibu. He is still waiting for his friend to make plans for him. He notices that the friend does not have a cell phone and that she is late for the meeting. He asks the friend why he is late, and the friend explains that he was late because he had invited him to meet his friend. He then tells the narrator that he is not sure if the friend is behind him or not, and wonders if he is getting tired of waiting. He wonders if some of his feet have gotten tired of the waiting, and he wonders if there is another hachiko in the area. He runs to see what is going on, and sees that the girl is running away with another man. The two of them rush out of the theater.
