About This Chapter
In this chapter, we learn that Hirokazu and his band are on their way back to Japan after a successful tour of the U.S., and they're about to embark on their next tour stop when they run into Mr. Ducer, who's just come from a meeting with the other members of the band. He asks if they'll be able to perform one of their songs on the upcoming tour. Mr. ducer tells him that they don't have enough money to pay for another recording session, so he's going to ask them to sing some of their own songs, which they've already done. He also tells them that he'll introduce them to a "nice girl" who wants to sing their songs too, and that they should sell them as a bundle with their current CD. He's not sure if they can do it, but he'd bet they could sell more if they sold them in bundles with the current CD . He tells them they'd have to use the songs they already sang, and he says they should use them too. He adds that they all really liked the band, but that the "number one pupil" of the famed recording engineer shut him up. He says that he can't believe that the band is doing this because they have nothing in common with them. They're doing it because they believe in themselves, and if they had believed in themselves as much as the band does, maybe their lives would be different now. He doesn't want to take a day off from the tour, because he wants to raise his daughters to be "upstanding women" . But he also says that it's too
