About This Chapter
In the meantime, the duans have learned a lot about the drug trade from a man named "lens" . The duans decide to go to the Express Inn to meet up with Doctor Sikes, who's also in town. They'll meet at the express inn at 11pm, and Sikes will pick them up at the train station. The narrator tells us that this is the first time that Sikes has been in town in ten years, so he's a little nervous about meeting up with Dr. Sikes. He's not sure how he'll react to the sight of his son's face, but the narrator reassures him that he can still see the man's features if he doesn't have a scratch on his face. He also tells Sikes that the only thing that's keeping him from finding his son is the fact that the man has a "moth-shaped scratch" on his forehead. The captain and his sister-in-law decide to take a ride to the express Inn, and the narrator tells them that there's been a theft in Sikes's apartment, but no evidence of theft has been found. They also tell the narrator that their neighbor, da Fu Tong, accidentally dropped an axe in the river while trying to cross the bridge.
