About This Chapter
A week later, the authorities still don't know who set the fire at the school. They do know that one of the five suspects is the current principal of the school where the fire took place. He's also a former art teacher, and he's a divorced man living alone in a building in the middle of nowhere. The school is his only place to go, he tells the authorities. The authorities decide to approach him and get some information out of him. They decide to give him a drink, and then they'll find out who else is responsible for the fire. The art teacher's painting is in the school's central hall, and the authorities want to put it there right away. The principal tells them that the painting is a famous piece of art, and many students have been inspired to become artists because of it. He tells them to put the painting back in its place, but the school is getting late, so they should head home. They'll head back soon, the principal says. The students fill out a form, and they get a box of pencils to give away as a prize. They fill out the form and send it to their teacher, who will write a letter to the current school principal for them. Three days later, he should receive the letter.
