About This Chapter
In the aftermath of Duan's death, uncle boyang brings breakfast to the captain. He complains about how long it took him to buy it. He tells the captain that he has to ask higher-ups for the transfer of pingguo to the police station. The captain says that he can't watch her suffer, but he has an idea. He wants to know if the captain can eat all of the breakfast, and the captain says he can read his palm. He says he's a good plamist, and if he reads his palm, he'll know that it's true. Captain xu says that's who the hell he thinks he is to barge into his office. An intern from the autopsy department comes in and tells him that if he doesn't believe that the palmistry is true, then he will be dead once Duan returns. The intern says that during the days that Duan is away from the police, no one seems to be able to keep their spirits up. Everyone goes to work, eat, and sleep, as usual, but no one can really smile anymore.
