About This Chapter
The narrator explains that he has been making mistakes since he was a child. He was scolded by his father for being too loud and for walking too fast. He says that he used to be a good kid because he was afraid that his parents would not love him anymore if he were not good enough. When he saw that his father was leaving him to die in the house, he realized that he was leaving his father to die. After this incident, he was severely traumatized and became even more afraid of making mistakes and setting higher standards for himself. The narrator says that his mother found a psychiatrist and helped her face her trauma. He also says that when he told his father that he did not save his daughter, he wanted to express his hatred for his father. This made him realize that he had not really gotten over his trauma and that he respects his creator even more.
