About This Chapter
The next day, Duan asks for leave to go to his daughter's grave, then he visits her grave. He tells his son-in-law that tomorrow, his daughter will perform at the Culture Center. Duan tells the captain of the train that he has already asked for a day off, so he can rest assured that he will be at the center on time. The captain tells Duan that someone has robbed the jewelry store, and taken hostages, and that he can go there on his own, but that the center is on fire. He asks the captain where they are going, and the captain tells him that they mustnt go into the center. He says that he was working on his thesis one day when his professor came to him and left him with a project. The professor left him a phone number, and he went to the center the next day. From then on, he offered psychological counseling to all the patients there. One patient that he cannot seem to cure, however, is a woman who went through a terrible fire. She was one of only a few people that survived, but she also had burns on her body and face. Every year, on her birthday, all of her experiences will be relived in her head
