The narrator explains that Miss Pi has given him a coat of high-quality leather that she has just purchased. The narrator is so impressed by the coat that he wants to buy one as well. Miss Pi tells the narrator that she is now married and has become the "lady of the house" . He asks her to stop teasing him, but she refuses, saying that she simply wants to tell the truth. He compares Miss Pi's coat to a "splash splash," a term used to describe the appearance of brith marks on skin. He explains that he has searched every bath house for a perfect pelt, but he still cannot find a pelt that is as good as the one in the coat. He adds that he always had all of the clothes he wanted since he was a kid, but that he still has not found the perfect pelt.
