About This Chapter
Back at the police station, Jason tells the captain that his father has been murdered. The captain asks if this is true, and Jason says that it isn't. Jason asks if the world has changed, and the captain tells him that it has. He tells Jason to tell him the truth, because nobody will believe him if he doesn't tell the truth for once. This is Jason's last chance to tell the captain the truth. He says that the world is getting worse and worse, and that there are even cockroaches that he hates the most. He also says that Jason kept yelling at the captain to let the cockroaches take him away, and he also called him a cockroach when the captain attacked him. The Captain says that they'll check the kid's belongings to see if they can find anything new, and then he'll re-interrogate the kid once he's calmed down. Meanwhile, back at the library, Ming Ma tells Ming that they are both dead, and Ming is afraid that she's lost her consciousness in the "aussiness of subconsciousness." Ming says that she created this illusion so that she could wake up Ming, who has been comatose for the past year. She tells Ming to come to the celebration of the anniversary of "eerie shadows."
