The group is in the middle of an oil refinery when they see the Mizoguchi brothers approaching. The narrator tells the group that the brothers burned three men to death, and that the pain was not caused by the needle, but rather by their fists. He tells them to keep moving forward because the oil refinery is full of waste, and the bridge that connects them to it is in danger of collapsing. They climb up to the top of the pile of waste and look down at the bridge. They see that the bridge is weak from the old age. They hear the sound of a ship approaching, and they panic. The ship is the Genryu, and it is close to collapsing on them. They can get to the island through an underwater tunnel.
