The next morning, Hirohito and the rest of the men discuss their plan to escape the advancing army. They decide to take a train to the town of Shinjuku, where they plan to set up a temporary shelter for the survivors. They plan to use the train as a launching pad and then use a helicopter to take the survivors to safety. The men wonder how they'll find a soldier who's willing to help them escape from the enemy. They're not sure if he's a bad soldier or not, but they do know that he abandoned his daughter and his kid when they were held captive by the 1st Army. The group decides that they owe him a favor and they're ready to go.
