About This Chapter
The next morning, the leaders of the g9 gather in a conference room to discuss the progress of the mission. A report from the government indicates that the capsule has landed in the former U.S. Japan. The g9 leaders are worried about the capsule's safety and try to figure out where it's headed. One of the leaders, Naruse, tells the others that he's been watching the capsule for the last 20 days. He's worried about where the capsule is headed and wonders if the two men on board are headed in the same direction. The other leaders try to get him to hurry up and find the capsule, but Naruse refuses to listen to their pleas. He tells them that they're digging up the bodies of the three men who are supposed to be on board the capsule. Naruse says that he doesn't want the men's names to be revealed, so he'll just tell them how it happened. They were part of an exploration unit that was testing how the capsule would fare in the Japanese environment. The three men, including the two boys on board, were killed during their mission. Only one of them died of an unknown cause, and the other two must have seen her death and realized that the fate of the capsule awaited them. They took samples of the dead woman's body and have been studying it ever since.
