The next morning, Hirohito and his men are in the middle of their search for Nemo when they hear that Dr. Coppelius is on his way. They are shocked to learn that he has fled for Tokyo, and they are worried about Nemo's safety. They also learn that Nemo has told them that he will not be able to leave the city without a protective suit, and that he may die if he does not receive a dose of aether, a magic substance that protects against the effects of high-level radiation. The men are worried that Nemo will be unable to return to Tokyo because of the high levels of radiation, and so they decide to use aether to keep him safe. The women are also worried about their safety, and the men try to calm them down by telling them that Nemo is safe.
