This chapter opens with a description of the mission of the cleanup crew. They were sent to remove the humans from the city, but they were told that the city was filled with radiation and that they should not be allowed to live there. The crew was sent to clean up the city's contamination, but now that they have a bug in their system, they will have to deal with it themselves. They return to the school to eat lunch. They are told that they will not be able to capture and destroy the school because of the "dirty little secrets" there. They wonder why it is only one person who has the bug, and they wonder if it is another person who is responsible for the bug. They also wonder why the people of the city hate the medical unit so much. They make it to the shinto bank, where they find a survivor.
