In this chapter, we learn that the former emperor of heaven is bringing a large group of people to the shadow city. The old man asks the old man why it is unacceptable for him to work with the new emperor of hell. He says that back in heaven, the old emperor banished all criminals to outer space because they were too weak to fend for themselves against demonic beasts. The new emperor is only out to get revenge for the wrongs done to him by his predecessor. The Old Man says that he doesn't think he did anything wrong. He wants to know about his son's strange power. He asks where he got it, and the Old Man replies that he thinks it is the same power he's been afraid of ever since he was a little boy. He then asks where his mother is, and she replies that she's nowhere to be found. He tells her that he'll wake her up and she'll see him again. He's going to wake them up and they'll all see each other again.
