This chapter opens with a description of the underground world, which is described in great detail in the opening lines of the novel. In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, the spirit maiden, who has come to the Underground World in order to protect her father from the bad guys. The spirit maiden tells her father that she has come only to protect him from the evil men, and that she will return to him when he is ready to save her father. She tells him that her father will not spare her father, as he is so tough that he cannot devour the souls of the good guys completely. The evil men are so tough, in fact, that she says, that they live for a while longer than she can devour them. She asks her father why he did not finish them off, and he tells her that he will come back and save her. He then realizes that he has been teleported away from his home, and is now in the middle of the chaos. He is surrounded by chaos, and there is a stake nearby, which he can use to protect himself.
