In this short scene, we learn that Oswald is dead. He's been thrown into purgatory, a place where criminals who have escaped from hell are put to death. We learn that the only way Oswald can get out of purgatory is to deal with the dead man. He says that he's going to teach Oswald how to wake up from his sleep.
