In this short scene, we learn that Dr. Bledsoe's son is still at the hospital, and that he's being held back by his father, who hates him so much that he would rather die in a coffin than see his son in the hospital. The two men argue about whether or not their daughter will return home today, and Dr. Norton accuses the father of kidnapping other people, including a little boy, to keep his daughter from returning home. The father, however, doesn't seem concerned about his daughter's safety, and he insists that the little boy and his teacher were kidnapped together with his daughter, and they need to be taken to an ambulance before it gets too late. This is not the first time that the father has kidnapped his daughter; earlier, he had kidnapped the girl's teacher and her little brother, and now he has kidnapped the father's daughter as well
