The next day, the group is still waiting for the return of wang dou, who has returned to the academy with a message for nannan. nan tells the group that he is still looking for chung dou and that he has come back with the message for her. The group is shocked at the accusation that nan is running away with chung, and nan asks the group if they really think that chung is their best friend. They reply that they do not know what happened to chung and that they are not accusing nan of running away. They then ask nan why chung was so seriously wounded, and she tells them that he was holding a flower on his cheek called "heartfelt red" when he got the burn on his hand from holding the hot water of the spring. She says that he drank the water to neutralise the ice on his body, and he was already close to death when she brought the flower back to him for treatment of his disease. She adds that she is grateful to nan for saving chung's life, and that she will always be nan's wife.
