The first round of sparring begins. The students are divided into three groups. The first group is made up of students from class 1, the second group of students is comprised of those from class 2, and the third group is composed of those who have yet to be assigned to a class. In the first round, the students are evenly matched, with the exception of one student from class 3, who is assigned to fight against the second-best student in his class. The student who defeats the student with the best fighting record wins the match. The other students are separated into two groups, each with three students. The top two students advance to the next round, where they will face off against the next best student in their class.
