In this chapter, the founder of the sect, tang, introduces his readers to the ice grass, also known as the "heart yearning flower." He explains that the flower is a symbol of love, and that it was once used by his wife to express her love for him. He says that if he were to become the soul ring of another person, he would do so to protect him forever. After reading the book, he realizes that he is in love with wangqiu'er, and he promises to do everything in his power to protect the man.
