In this chapter, the reader is introduced to a new character, the "ice empress" . The ice empress tells the reader that he has been alone for thousands of years and that he is now reborn in the human body. He explains that the human aura is a spiritual practice and that not everyone is bad. He hopes that the "skydream ice worm" can join him in his quest for the soul of the dead. The two men discuss the possibility of re-cultivating the dead bodies of their brothers in order to re-establish the relationship between the two men. In the end, they decide that the best thing to do is to take the bodies of all the dead brothers and return them to their respective families. The men decide that they must leave as soon as possible.
