About This Chapter
The next day, the doctor tells the captain that the wound on Henry's right foot has grown more specific. The captain wonders if the wound is random or if Henry has reached his limit. The doctor tells him that he should stop moving, as the more he does, the more damage he can do to his organs. He then asks the captain if he can see something on the wounded man's skin that seems "almost random." The captain says that he can't tell if it's random or not, but the doctor suggests that it might not be random at all. He asks if there's anything wrong with the engine, and the captain replies that he's still right there with the captain, but that his wife has taken up residence somewhere "rather interesting" . They're at a lumber mill unloading a freight car when the captain asks if the captain can give him tactical commands from the command post. He says that the captain should use the reports from the check-points sent out from the battlefield to plan his troops already in action. The Captain says that's a good idea, since he'll be able to give orders from his command post as long as the troops are already on the ground. He's worried that the enemy will launch a zeppelin to attack the lumber mill, and he wonders if they're really going to do it. He also worries that the air force will shoot down the zeppelins if they try to attack it.
