As the battle rages on, Malvolio's engine roars with the roar of the battle engines. He says that the age of sword and spear is over, and that getting trampled by enemy soldiers is a death sentence. He fears that he has lost all four limbs in the battle, and he worries that he will have to kill a little girl who is trying to shield herself from the advancing army. He tells the girl not to look at him, as he will not last long. He asks her to go and help him, and she agrees. He thanks her and tells her that she will be with him for the rest of his life.
