So, the only solution is to cross the path of the pack, which means that the dogs will have to eat the food that they have been given, even if it's not the best food for them to eat. This is the first time that we've seen a dog with "short legs" , so we're pretty sure that this is a reference to tiramisu, the dog that was rescued from the brothel. The narrator tells us that the dog is a bit of a mystery to us, but we'll just have to wait and see.
